Can I get aids or an STD from my toothbrush touching someone elses toothbrush?
We put our toothbrushes in a container and sometimes some of the toothbrushes rub against eachother a bit, what are the chances that I will get an STD if my toothbrush accidently rubs on the toothbrush of an HIV-infected person?
There was an article in Time Magazine many years ago that stated that if you used the toothbrush of a person who has Hepatitis C you can contract Hepatitis C from them due to the tiny micro-molecules of blood left on the toothbrush. The same thing was said for sharing razors for shaving. Using this premise, this would hold true for any blood-borne disease, such as HIV. However, this was in regards to sharing toothbrushes, not toothbrushes touching. I thought this was an interesting fact to point out.
